4 THINGS TO CONSIDER BEFORE BECOMING A GANJA YOGA TEACHER

Ooh, exciting, you’re thinking of joining the international family of Ganja Yoga Teachers, - we love it!!

Embarking on the journey to become a cannabis-enhanced yoga teacher is a decision that can stir both excitement and contemplation. As you consider a professional step into teaching this unique form of wellness, there are a few considerations that deserve your mindful attention before you embark. They are…

  • Your intentions

  • Legal landscape

  • Social landscape

  • Professional landscape

Let’s Go Into Each One In More Detail:

Your Intention

First and foremost, reflect on why you want to teach Ganja Yoga. Are you drawn to this path out of a genuine passion for yoga and cannabis, based on your own experience with combining them, or are you more drawn to the trend because it’s cool and unconventional?

Authenticity will infuse your teachings with sincerity and depth, resonating more profoundly with your students. Be sure to have your own personal Ganja Yoga practice before taking others on enhanced-yoga journeys, so you have a feel for the dosage, methods of consumption’s, timing, and yoga sequences and poses that work for you. Teach what you know.

The Legal Landscape

Ok, so you’ve taken the Ganja Yoga Training. Great! Before you create a website, develop a brand, engage in promotions, and book a yoga studio, be sure to delve into the legalities surrounding cannabis in your region.

While many people take the training as a personal development course, if you are planning to teach Ganja Yoga classes, be sure you fully understand the laws and regulations in your area. Things like: What the limits for personal possession are, whether you should get a medical marijuana card, whether your students need a card, and whether you can advertise the classes publically are the kinds of considerations we’re talking about.

The Social Landscape

Each state, and even different cities in a state, will have wildly different approaches to recreational, social, therapeutic, and spiritual cannabis. Is there a market for Ganja Yoga where you live? Is there a community, niche, or audience that makes sense for you?

And: is someone already offering cannabis-enhanced yoga? If so, don’t be discouraged! Maybe come to one of their Ganja Yoga classes and introduce yourself, or reach out to collaborate with them. Remember: abundance is all around us, and there is more than enough to go around!  … If there isn’t already someone offering it, would reaching out to yoga studios make sense, or would that class be better suited to a dispensary?

The Professional Landscape

Are you willing to be fully out of the green closet, or will you be offering Ganja Yoga under an alias? Do you have family or coworkers you will need to keep this side of you private from? Are you in a yoga community that could judge you for teaching cannabis-enhanced yoga?

And: while we’re on the topic of professionalism, we’ll add that adding cannabis means we not only need to maintain the professionalism expected of a yoga teacher, we need to be even more rigorous in upholding ethical standards (since our students will be in altered states of consciousness). Be sure you understand what will be expected of you to keep your students safe and coming back for more! (The Ganja Yoga Training covers all this and more. Next enrollment: Nov 2-5th, 2023!~).

Conclusion:

There you have it: The four things to consider as you embark on your own journey of self-exploration with cannabis and yoga: Understand your intention and how the pairing enriches your own practice, and then understanding the legal, social, and professional landscape you’re operating in.

Now you’re ready to begin your plans to offer classes or take the Ganja Yoga Training to learn more!

And, as you stand at the beginning of your journey to teaching cannabis-enhanced yoga, may your heart be guided by a sincere desire to nurture, enlighten, and transform our communities. Thanks for making the world a better place!!
