WAYS TO GET HIGH

There are many ways we can ingest cannabis, and each method can produce a unique experience of the same strain.
At first you may be intimidated by all there is to know about ways to consume. You might know what a joint and bong are, but be unclear on what a dab or suppository is, or how to use tinctures or patches.

I got you

Whether it’s dabs, vapes, edibles, joints, blunts, suppositories, tinctures, topicals, transdermal patches, or CBD-only products, there are so many ways this plant can bring us balance and relief, and it’s definitely worth exploring a little!

The main methods of consumption are below, along with a run-down of how each one may impact your ganja yoga practice. Note that we’re all different, so this is just a generalization. Ganja Yoga Teachers often use a cannabis-diary to track what methods work best for what situation. Something to consider. In the meantime, let’s get high by …

~ Smoking

Aka, puffing on joints, blunts, and bongs. If tobacco is added, it's a spliff. High-combustion, so not not ideal. (But cannabis is anti-cancer and smokers don’t have an increased risk of lung cancer compared to non-smokers, huzza!).

~ Vaping

A lower-combustion method of inhaling cannabis bud (or concentrated cannabis in a pen). Dabbing is a type of vaping that uses concentrates, and (to me) provide the cleanest, tastiest, clearest, and terpiest high.

~ Tinctures

Using cannabis that’s been extracted in a solvent (alcohol, honey, oil, butter, glycerin, etc), under the tongue to enter the bloodstream fairly rapidly.

~ Edibles

When we use edibles, we’re digesting cannabis extract in food or drink form, which means the medicine enters the bloodstream via the intestines, not the lungs. Edibles provide the best body high, but are usually a slower onset (though, new nano-technologies have created fast-acting drink powders using isolated THC or CBD molecules coated in some kind of high-tech rain jacket so they digest faster, so cool!). The rule of thumb with edibles is to start low and go slow. You can always add more as you go.

~ Topicals

Lotions, balms, salves, used to treat pain, skin conditions, pain, or simply as another way of supplementing the endocannabinoid system (our bod’s natural weed-receptor system, more on that later… ). Topicals are often used for pain or skin conditions, and trans-dermal patches are applied to the skin and penetrate the demus, going beyond the topical’s ability to heal.

~ Weed Lube

These are a specific, and very fun type of topical applied to the genitals or other sensual body parts for increased blood flow and pleasure, along with potential pain relief  and stronger orgasms. I haven’t had mind-blowing effects from topicals like some of the reviews I’ve seen online, but I keep using them, haha.

~ Suppositories

These are topicals inserted into the anus to ease lower back and menstrual cramps, or to relax the area for anal sex. They can also be inserted into the vagina.

~ Bath Bombs

These are infused epsom salt balls that dissolve in the bath, working on the mucus membranes that are submerged in the water (ie, the anus and vulva). I love using bath bombs for extreme relaxation, pain relief, and preparation for sexy play.

~ Yoni Steam

This is a new one I learned from the Bay Area’s first Black certified Ganja Yoga teacher, Lady Namastizzle. You can use any part of the cannabis plant, (even the stems and such), along with other healing herbs like roses, holy basil, sage, or rosemary, and carefully squat over hot water while wrapped in a towel, to infuse the tissues of the vulva (yoni) with herbal medicine. (Those without yonis can do an anal steam the same way). Divine!

~ Burning As Sacred Incense

Last but not least, ancient practitioners of cannabis-enhanced spirituality would adorn their temples with cannabis incense, burning it ceremoniously. Perhaps you light a little in a ritualistic way, swirling the smoke around your room, and saying a prayer of thanks to cannabis.

… Quite the LIST, huh??

And what I’m saying is, - YOU SHOULD TRY THEM ALL!!!

I’m curious, - as you recall the list, what’s one you’ve been curious to try? What’s one that feels too edgy for now, and “no thank you”? Which ones do you love?

Here’s The List Again

~ Smoking
~ Vaping + Dabs
~ Tinctures
~ Edibles
~ Topicals + Patches
~ Lube
~ Suppositories
~ Bath bombs
~ Yoni/anal steam
~ Burning as incense

Each of these methods can each impact a yoga practice in a unique way, much like how different strains, or different sets and settings, also impact the high.(More on those later!).

Once we have a relationship with cannabis and all the magic she offers, we can’t help but addictively stay up to date on scientific understanding of her medicine and try to source the most naturally-grown, ethical cannabis we can! It just makes sense.

(And then then there’s no turning back, - we are on the Ganja Yogi path!! )

APPRECIATE YOU!
XO D.
